About Maria
Maria Mouchanova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. Since she was a child she has always been involved in sports and fitness. At a young age Maria started competing in fencing events. She competed in two world championships for cadets and juniors, in Bonn, Germany 1991, and in Denver, Colorado 1993.
She completed her masters degree in coaching for fencing in 1998 as well a masters in physical fitness education. Maria received these degrees from the National Sports Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria.
From 2000-2005 she worked as a fitness director on the RCCL cruise line. Maria received her Mat Pilates certification in 2003 at Michael King Pilates Institute, in London.
Maria moved to Delray Beach, Florida in 2005 where she continued her Pilates education. She received her Pilates Equipment certification in June 2010 at Pilates Institute of America in Wellington, Florida, and joined Fit to the CORE Pilates the following year.
From 2005 to 2010 she taught various fitness classes in gyms in or near Delray Beach. She also taught private reformer sessions in some of these facilities.
Because of Maria’s strong background in sports and fitness, she is passionate about helping people achieve their personal best. Maria has worked with a wide range of clientele. She has experience with joint replacements, spinal issues, MS, Lupus, just to name a few.
Her clients range in age from 15 to 83.
The one on one private sessions at Fit to the CORE Pilates allow her to design each session specifically to that client’s needs, giving the client her full attention, and making sure the exercises are done properly.
